Preparations for our sponsored walk

I 've been telling people for a while that I'd be using this site to update them on our preparations for the sponsored walk which is just over a fortnight away now and our progress during it but haven't actually put anything up yet, so here goes. In brief, I'm personally some way off the level of fitness that I would have liked to have been at at this stage but there are a number of reasons for that. I came into this year having suffered knee ligament damage playing rugby in December and that took around three months to fully recover from. I also suffer from arthritis and have problems with my ankles in particular. This year, I've had a number of bouts of that to contend with too and subsequently more time 'off the road' because of it. Things had been looking up of late and I was able to get some early morning milage in until I was bitten just above my right ankle by something and it became infected. It's taking it's time to heal up properly but the swelling is down now and I'm trying to get some more milage in my legs. On the admin front, there are a number of upcoming charity nights in Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Banchang to get publicity and draw prizes for and sponsorship forms still to send out. There's also still the possibility of another TV interview down in Pattaya, though that's out of my hands, unfortunately. Our car, which will be the back-up vehicle for the walk, needs some work on it re banners and logos before we make the journey down to Banglamung on the 1st of September. The route for the walk itself is set though there are parts of it that need a little more work on as I haven't personally used some of those roads before and the maps we've got are not very precise. We still have to make arrangements with the bank for Ros's mother and father to be able to withdraw funds while we're away for them to do the weekly shopping and pay the other bills and and get other volunteers in both Lamphun and Chiang Mai to come down to the Foundation regularly and keep an eye on things, especially the older children who may see our joint absence as an opportunity to get up to mischief. I hope that they don't but you never know! All in all, still lots of jobs to be done and even less and less time to do them all in. However, I think we'll manage and I'll keep you all posted as the countdown continues.
